Design Process Pvt. Ltd. operates in a space where visual acuity, color accuracy, and aesthetic minimalism are non-negotiable. The renovation of their D-Chowk office required a lighting solution that broke away from the standard grid of recessed panels. They needed:

By fabricating a rigid aluminium box frame (2×4 ft), Newon creates a self-contained lighting luminaire. This box can be suspended via cables to hang precisely 1.5 to 2 meters above the workstations, or surface-mounted directly to flat ceilings in boardrooms. The 8W/sq ft power density (64W total) provides ample lux levels for collaborative work, while the translucent membrane scatters the light into a soft, uniform glow that eliminates the harsh shadows cast by traditional downlights.

Engineering the Box: Frame, Heat, and Tension

  4. Harpoon Track Integration: The inner lip of the box features an integrated harpoon track, allowing the membrane to be heated and stretched perfectly flush with the outer aluminium edge.

Installation Sequence (Suspended Configuration)

  1. Off-Site Fabrication: The 2×4 ft aluminium box frame is assembled, and the 16 LED modules are wired and tested on the workbench.
