Dual-Colour Stretch Ceiling Lighting, Integrated with Moorgen Smart Automation — Renergy Experience Centre, Islamabad
Newon Lighting designed and installed a 350 sqft dual-colour stretch fabric ceiling at the Renergy Experience Centre in Islamabad — a showcase space where visitors experience Moorgen’s German smart home automation systems alongside Renergy’s renewable energy solutions. The brief called for a ceiling that could do more than simply glow: it needed to shift between warm and cool tones on command, dim smoothly, and answer to the same smart automation panel controlling every other system in the building. It now does exactly that.
About the Renergy Experience Centre
Located opposite Giga Mall on Main G.T. Road, Islamabad, the Renergy Experience Centre operates alongside HVERSE — the regional showcase for Moorgen, the German luxury smart home automation brand known for its bus-control and cloud-based intelligent lighting, curtain, climate, and scene-control systems. Renergy Electric, a renewable energy and automation collaborator in the same building, brings solar and energy-management expertise into the same showroom experience. Together the space functions as a live demonstration of what a fully automated, energy-conscious building interior looks and feels like — which meant the ceiling lighting itself had to be a demonstration piece, not just a fixture.
Project design for the space was led by MGMJ Studio. Watch a video of the completed space here.
The Lighting Brief
A smart-home experience centre lives or dies on its ability to demonstrate control, not just illumination. The client — already a Moorgen automation user — needed a ceiling lighting system that was visually striking on its own, but that could also be folded into the same scene-control ecosystem used to manage every other system in the building. That meant two requirements had to be met simultaneously: independent dual-colour dimming control via a dedicated remote, and full compatibility with the client’s existing Moorgen automation panel for day and night scene programming.
The Installation — Specification
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Total Area | 350 sqft |
| Ceiling Sections | Three sizes — two centre sections + one long border run |
| LED Modules Used | 600 modules total |
| Module Wattage | 8W per module |
| Power Supplies | 20 units, 300W each |
| Colour System | Dual-colour — independently dimmable warm/cool channels |
| Standalone Control | Dedicated remote — colour + dimming |
| Smart Integration | Fully compatible with Moorgen automation — day/night scene control |
| Fabric Membrane | Stretch fabric ceiling — colour and pattern customisable |
How the Dual-Colour System Works
Behind the stretch fabric membrane, 600 individual 8W LED modules are arranged across the ceiling’s three sections, driven by 20 dedicated 300W power supplies. Each module carries two independently controllable colour channels — allowing the ceiling to sit anywhere between pure warm white and pure cool white, or blend both tones at any point in between, with full dimming range on each channel. This is what makes the ceiling capable of genuine “day” and “night” scenes rather than a single fixed mood: a bright, cool, energising tone for daytime showroom hours, and a warmer, dimmer tone for evening client meetings and demonstrations.
Standalone, the ceiling operates from its own dedicated remote control — colour blend and brightness adjustable independently. But because the Renergy Experience Centre already runs on Moorgen’s smart automation platform, Newon specified and wired the system to be directly compatible with that existing infrastructure. The ceiling now appears as a controllable zone inside the client’s own Moorgen panel, alongside their lighting, curtains, and climate systems — meaning a single tap on the same interface that controls the rest of the showroom also sets the ceiling’s colour and brightness as part of a saved scene.
Why Three Ceiling Sections Instead of One
Rather than a single uniform sheet, the 350 sqft was split into three distinct stretch ceiling zones — two centre sections and one long run tracing the border of the ceiling. This sectional approach lets each zone be addressed and scened independently if required, while visually framing the room: the border run defines the perimeter of the space, and the two centre sections become the primary illuminated focal points — the same layering logic Newon applies across restaurant, retail, and showroom stretch ceiling installations nationwide.
Why This Matters for Smart Buildings in Pakistan
As smart home and building automation adoption grows in Pakistan — particularly around premium developments in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi — lighting is increasingly expected to be a controllable system, not a fixed fitting. A stretch ceiling that only works with its own bundled remote becomes a dead end the moment a client wants it inside a larger automation ecosystem. Newon’s approach — specifying dual-colour LED modules on a standard dimmable protocol from the outset — means the lighting stays compatible with whatever automation brand a client is already running, Moorgen or otherwise, instead of becoming an isolated system nobody controls from one place.

Newon’s Stretch Ceiling & Smart Lighting Capability
Newon supplies every colour and colour combination available in stretch fabric ceiling lighting — single-colour, dual-colour tunable, full RGB, and printed pattern designs — for residential, hospitality, retail, and showroom interiors across Pakistan. This project sits alongside Newon’s other stretch ceiling installations, including a printed cloudy-sky Barrisol ceiling in Islamabad and a window-style sky-printed ceiling in Rawalpindi.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a dual-colour stretch ceiling and how does it differ from a standard backlit ceiling?
A dual-colour stretch ceiling uses two independent LED colour channels behind the fabric membrane — typically warm and cool white — so the ceiling can shift between colour temperatures or blend both simultaneously. A standard backlit stretch ceiling has one fixed colour channel and cannot change tone or create day/night scene variation.
Can a stretch ceiling lighting system integrate with a smart home automation brand like Moorgen?
Yes. Newon’s dual-colour stretch ceiling LED modules operate on a standard dimmable control protocol, which allows integration with third-party home automation systems such as Moorgen. At the Renergy Experience Centre, the ceiling is controlled both by its own dedicated remote and directly through the client’s Moorgen automation panel for scene creation.
How many LED modules and power supplies are needed for a 350 sqft stretch ceiling installation?
The Renergy Experience Centre installation used 600 LED modules at 8W each across 350 sqft, powered by 20 driver units rated at 300W. This module density delivers even, hotspot-free backlighting across the full membrane surface, split across three ceiling sections of varying sizes.
What colour and design options does Newon offer for stretch fabric ceilings in Pakistan?
Newon supplies every colour and colour combination for stretch fabric ceilings in Pakistan, including single-colour warm or cool white, dual-colour tunable systems, RGB colour-changing, and printed designs such as sky and cloud patterns. Fabric finish, size, and shape are fully customisable per project.
Planning a Stretch Ceiling or Smart-Integrated Lighting Project?
Newon designs, supplies, and installs stretch fabric ceiling lighting in every colour and configuration — including systems built to integrate directly with smart home automation platforms such as Moorgen or any other — for residential, retail, hospitality, and showroom projects across Pakistan.
